Types of table skirting

There are many types of table skirting in use in hotels and hospitality. First, lets look at what table skirting is, in case you are not familiar with using it.

RAITTO contains other products and information you need, so please check it out.

What is table skirting?

Table skirting is a type of tablecloth that is used to cover table legs during food service in a dining room, restaurant, banqueting hall or event venue.

Instead of using a flat tablecloth which might not hang nicely, or will show some of the table legs, table skirting is made to measure or is provided in set standard lengths and heights. It is designed to be both attractive and easy to use for hotel staff in busy function rooms.

What is table skirting used for?

Table skirting is suitable for a variety of uses including food, drinks, dinners and weddings.

Buffet table skirting

Buffet table skirting is used on a buffet table during food service. Buffet table skirting is usually black or a practical colour. It is usually made to fit a rectangular trestle table or supplied in lengths that can be fastened together to fit long, curved and straight buffet tables.

  • Buffet tables can be used for a wide range of functions:
  • Coffee & tea break out area at meetings and conferences
  • Self-service food service in a restaurant or at a banquet
  • Drinks and canapes for an evening party

Buffet table skirting can be used to hide provisions like extra crockery and cutlery, drinks or glasses underneath the table so that they are close during service. Short table skirts can be made to cover tiers on a buffet table.

Restaurant table skirting

Restaurant table skirting can be used for dining room tables in restaurants, banqueting halls or event venues. Restaurant table skirting is usually round or square. The fabrics for restaurant table skirting can be plain, satin, textured or patterned. Table skirting provides a base layer below table cloths and hangs to the floor.

Wedding table skirting

Table skirting is often used for the head or top table where the bride & groom and their wedding party sit. Wedding table skirting is often white or pale and is purely decorative. It can be enhanced with bows, swags or a valance made in the same fabric or organza in a contrasting colour.

Cake table skirting

Round table skirting is often used for the wedding cake or wedding gifts. This type of table skirting can also be decorated with a valance or bows.

As you can see, table skirting can be used for many different functions. We have made skirting for presentation and awards tables, cookery competition entries, as curtains for school cupboards, and as edging for our portable staging units.

What are the different types of table skirting?

Forbes Group makes three main types of table skirting. We make traditional table skirting that is attached to the table top using table skirting clips. Clips are attached to the table skirt with snaps or Velcro.

We also have two unique products; restaurant table skirting that is attached to a table protector or top cloth with hook & loop fastening (Velcro) and simple-fit table skirting that has an elasticated top that fits the table.

We make table skirting in five pleat styles (box pleat, double box pleat, regency, accordion and shirred) or as flat panels in a fabric of your choice. Table skirts can be permanently attached to the top (this is called a sewn in topper) or supplied as separate pieces.

10 Types of Table Skirting: Which Style Is Right for Your ...

Event fabrics come in many forms, including table skirts, which breathe new life into seemingly simple décor. The guide below details many types of table skirting, ranging in pleat types, length options, and more. Read this guide to successfully determine which style is right for your event.

Poly Satin

Poly Satin is a lustrous, radiant fabric. When you want the tables to reflect light brilliantly, Poly Satin will help. From vivid red to deep green, Poly Satin skirts bring a glossy touch to many hues.

Banjo

Like Poly Satin, Banjo table skirts come in many different colors. However, Banjo fabric creates a unique shimmering effect in the right lighting, creating an eye-catching color display. Beyond the shimmer, this fabric&#;s open weave design makes it stand out delightfully.

Premier

Premier fabric brings a soft feel and professional look to any event table. Additionally, our premier table skirts are medium weight, so they bring a rich visual heft to the décor without being overbearing. Perfect event décor is all about balance, and premier fabrics can bring exactly that to the venue.

Box Pleats

Pleating refers to the stylish folds that give table skirts more character. Box pleats are ideal for upscale events, showcasing rigid waves that create a full, uniform appearance.

Shirred Pleats

One of the most common types of table skirting is shirred. A shirred pleat skirt has a more ruffled look than box pleats. So, although shirred skirts aren&#;t as upscale as box types, they still provide a rich, elegant display of color, texture, and fullness.

Opaque

The more opaque your fabulous fabric is, the better it is at blocking light. For this reason, table skirts all vary slightly in opacity. For example, our premier skirts are approximately 60 to 70 percent opaque, though our Poly Satin table skirts showcase an impressive 80 percent opacity.

14-Foot-Long

Although size might not sound important, it can make or break how great your skirting looks. Like all event décor, table skirting should help the venue look stunningly elegant. Our 14-foot skirts will brilliantly cover three sides of the average six-foot or eight-foot banquet table.

17-Foot-Long

Like 14-foot skirts, our 17-foot-long table skirts have enough fabric for three sides of the average eight-foot banquet table. Furthermore, the 17-foot skirts cover all four sides of a six-foot banquet table with attractive, flowing fabric. Plus, if you have 60-inch round tables at the venue, 17-foot skirts will cover them completely.

21-Foot-Long

The 21-foot-long table skirt provides enough fabric for all four sides of the average eight-foot banquet table. Furthermore, you can use 21-foot-long skirting to cover 72-inch round tables beautifully.
