  • Proudly made in the USA

Our 42 x 46 decking fits 42&#; deep pallet rack uprights and standard 96&#; or 144&#; load beams. An 8&#; beam level will require two wire decks and three decks are required to complete a 12&#; level. The three channels on the 42&#; x 46&#; deck provide a capacity of lbs under uniformly-distributed loads. This creates a perfect fit on 4&#; x 96&#; load beams, which offer a lbs capacity.

Adding wire decking to your pallet rack system from the start can be a very valuable investment for your business. Wire decking can provide the following benefits to your distribution center or storage facility: increased safety for forklift drivers and employees, improved air circulation, minimized dirt build-up, better visibility, and increased sprinkler system effectiveness. When ordering 42 x 46 decking for 8&#; beams, you can simply match the quantities of beams and decks because you&#;ll need two decks and two beams per level. When ordering decking for 12&#; load beams, you&#;ll need to multiply your beam quantity by 1.5. So, if you have 10 cross beams, you&#;ll need to order 15 wire mesh decks.

Does Load Distribution Affect Wire Deck Capacity?

Wire decks are commonly used as support on selective pallet rack beams. Besides getting decking with the right dimensions, do you know what the right capacity is for your deck? What about how different loads will affect its capacity? After reading this post, you should have a better idea of the basics of wire decking.

As a rule of thumb, a wire deck&#;s capacity should be equal to that of the pallet rack beam. Since two wire decks are used on the most commonly sized beams, the two decks together should have the same load rating as the beam. For instance, if your beams have a 5,000 pound capacity rating, your wire decks should each hold 2,500 pounds.

The posted capacity ratings are only based on a UDL, or a uniformly distributed load. A UDL is a load that is evenly distributed over the whole surface of the wire deck. If your pallets are much smaller than the decking and the load is concentrated in the middle of the deck, the capacity will be diminished. Similarly, any inventory not on standard pallets, like a container with &#;legs&#;, or a pallet with only two boards holding the load will not distribute the weight evenly. These are considered &#;point loads&#; and &#;concentrated loads&#; respectively, and will negatively affect the capacity. You may also see deflection of the wire decking in these cases.

If you do have inventory stored on a different type of pallet or container, we recommend adding pallet supports. We can also design a deck to work for your specific application if needed. Contact us to learn about your options when it comes to wire decking and pallet rack supports.
