DuraMat™
Check nowDuraMat is crafted as an interlocking puzzle-like unit that connects with each neighboring piece, forming a robust cohesive mat ideal for use in erosion control applications and retention pond floors.
Recommended Base Stabilization - Utilize one layer of DriveGrid™ stabilization grid between subgrade and base material. The recommended depth is 8” to 10" below pavers for optimal stability and performance. Apply under Standard Base only.
Standard Base - Min. 6" – 8" of ¾” Crusher Run gravel (any road base standard compliant with ASTM-D2940) compacted to 98% Standard Proctor Density (SPD). Where available, refer to the architect’s or engineer’s specific site engineering for installation.
Standard Bedding Course - No bedding is required. Install directly on the base material.
Jointing Material and Joint Stabilization - Fill all holes with a free-draining aggregate or as specified by an engineer.
Handling - This product is heavy; a two-man clamp is recommended for placement.
Edge Restraint - Install a concrete curb or a “sub-surface concrete wedge” to retain the edge.
Paver Compaction - For final compaction, a “rubber roller compactor” will provide the best results without breaking the units.
Cleaners - Not applicable
Sealers - Not applicable
The Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) provide measurable criteria for compliance rather than evaluating individual products. Avoid gaps, joints, or openings larger than ½” horizontally and ¼” vertically as they can hinder wheelchair maneuverability (United States Access Board – Guidelines and Standards).

Our Dura-Base® composite mats are made from high-density polyethylene, allowing for easy installation and flexibility.
When dealing with terrains too challenging for cranes, bulldozers, or other heavy equipment, or when working in environmentally sensitive areas, you need an access solution that safeguards both your equipment and your client's property. The Dura-Base® Composite Mat System is your ideal solution in such scenarios.
The system consists of 8' x 14' interlocking sections that overlap and are pinned together to form a 13' wide temporary road.
For example: A 100' road would require 15 mats.
The system consists of 8' x 14' interlocking sections that overlap and are pinned together, forming a 91 sq. ft. area per mat.
For example: 4 mats will provide a 364 sq. ft. working surface area.
Sawgrass Matting offers the DURA-BASE® composite mat system for rental. DURA-BASE® mats are patented with a unique interlocking connection system, making them perfect for creating heavy-duty working platforms for temporary job sites and access roads.
The DURA-BASE® mat system reduces costs, stabilizes loads, and protects environmentally sensitive areas from spills while minimizing environmental footprints. Each mat weighs approximately 1,050 lbs and measures 4.25" thick x 8' x 14'.
